Doctor Orders & Nursing Notes
Structured order communication between doctors and nurses with full audit trail
Overview
Doctors create structured orders (Medication, Lab Test, Radiology, Vital Signs, Diet, Activity, Procedure, Consult) with priority (Routine/Urgent/STAT). Nurses receive real-time socket notifications, acknowledge orders, and mark them complete. Every order has a full audit trail: created, modified, acknowledged, and completed — all with timestamps.
Standard Operating Workflow
Doctor Creates Order
Select admitted patient, choose order type, enter details, set priority (Routine/Urgent/STAT).
Nurse Notified
Socket notification fires: 'New STAT Order — CBC for Bed 5'. Nurse sees it instantly.
Acknowledge
Nurse acknowledges → timestamp logged. Order status: Acknowledged.
Complete
After execution, nurse/lab marks Completed. Doctor sees real-time status update.
Nursing Notes
Nurses create shift handovers, incident reports, progress notes, and family communication records per patient.
Key Operational Benefits
Real-World Healthcare Scenarios
Night Refusal Documented
Doctor orders Insulin. Night nurse marks Refused — 'Patient NPO for surgery'. Doctor sees refusal in real time. Adjusts order. Refusal documented with timestamp and reason — full protection for nurse and doctor.
