What this page is for

Use Blood Bank to keep records of blood donors and units, review stock by blood group, track expiry dates, and record when a unit is reserved, issued, or discarded.

Note:Blood Bank records are scoped to the selected location.

Tip:If the page shows 0 units available, no units are currently available in its inventory.

  • Issued Today: Units issued today.
  • Expiring (7d): Available units with an expiry date within seven days.

Add Donor form with name, blood group, and medical history
The Add Donor form

The Donors tab shows donor ID, blood group, donation count, last donation, and an eligibility label. The app uses a 56-day interval after a recorded donation when calculating whether a donor may be eligible again.

Warning:Treat the eligibility label as a reminder only: donor screening and eligibility must be assessed by qualified staff under your blood bank’s policy.

Warning:Donor medical details are sensitive. Enter them accurately and share them only with staff who are authorized to access them.

The expiry date is prefilled based on the selected component and collection date. The app generates a bag ID for tracking.

The Issue Blood Unit form

The app records the issue and marks the unit as issued.

Warning:A displayed blood-group match or mismatch is not a compatibility assessment. The app does not replace laboratory testing, professional interpretation, bedside identity checks, or your facility’s transfusion protocol. Do not issue a unit based only on the inventory screen or its warning.

Warning:The system requires the unit’s screening tests to be marked clear before issuing it. Enter test results truthfully; never mark tests clear unless the required results have been verified.

Reservations and other unit actions

The summary and unit records include a Reserved status, and reserved units can be released from the Blood Units list.

Note:In the current screen, there is no visible button to create a reservation. If your workflow requires reserving a unit, follow your facility’s approved process and ask your administrator how to record it.

  • Release: Returns a reserved unit to Available status. Confirm it is appropriate to release before doing so.
  • Discard: Removes an available or reserved unit from usable inventory and prompts for a reason. Do not discard an issued unit through this workflow.
  • Expired: Indicates an expired unit; it should not be treated as available.
